Roblox Scams to Avoid: Free Robux, Fake UGC and Account Stealers
The scams that steal Roblox accounts, how each one works and the simple rules that keep your account, items and Robux safe.
Most Roblox accounts are not “hacked” in the movie sense. They are handed over: someone is tricked into typing a password, pasting a piece of code or approving a login. Once you know the tricks, they are easy to spot. This guide covers the common ones and the few habits that stop almost all of them.
The golden rule: nobody needs your password, your cookies or a code from your screen to give you anything. Not a friend, not a game, not “Roblox staff”.
Free Robux generators and surveys
Sites and videos that promise free Robux are the oldest trick on Roblox. They ask you to enter your username, then “verify” by filling out surveys, downloading apps or logging in. The surveys make money for the scammer, the downloads can be malware, and the login page steals your account.
Robux only come from Roblox: buying them, a Premium membership, or earning them as a creator. Official promo codes exist, but they give free items, never Robux.
Cookie loggers: “paste this to get the item”
Your browser keeps a login cookie that tells Roblox you are signed in. Anyone who gets it can use your account without your password, even with 2-Step Verification on. Scammers try to grab it by asking you to:
- paste a piece of code into your browser’s address bar or developer console;
- drag a “bookmark” into your bookmarks bar and click it;
- run a file or install a browser extension that “claims items”, “snipes UGC” or “checks your inventory”.
Never paste anything into your browser’s address bar or console because someone told you to. There is no secret code that gives free items.
Fake login pages
A link in a Discord message, a comment or a game description takes you to a page that looks exactly like Roblox and asks you to log in. The address is slightly wrong: extra words, swapped letters or a different ending.
Only type your password when the address bar shows roblox.com (or its www version). If a link sends you to a login page you did not expect, close it and go to Roblox yourself.
Quick Login code scams
Roblox’s Quick Login lets you sign in on a new device by approving a code on a device where you are already signed in. Scammers turn it around: they start a login on their device and ask you to “enter this code” for a giveaway or a “verification”. Entering it logs them into your account.
Only use Quick Login for a device you are holding yourself.
Fake free UGC and giveaways
Free items are real, but scammers use them as bait. Watch out for games or servers that send you to an outside website to “claim”, ask you to log in again, or want a download first. Real free items are claimed through Roblox’s own purchase window, at 0 Robux. Our free UGC guide shows what the real process looks like.
Trade scams
If you trade limited items, the common tricks are:
- Fake middlemen, someone who offers to “hold” both sides of a trade and keeps everything;
- Switching items at the last second, hoping you do not recheck the trade window;
- Fake value lists that make a cheap item look valuable.
Use Roblox’s own trade window, check every item before you accept, and never send items first because someone promised to send theirs after.
Fake Roblox staff
Messages that say your account was reported and will be banned unless you “verify” are scams. Roblox does not ask for your password through chat, private messages, Discord or games. Real notices appear in your Roblox account itself.
How to protect your account
- Turn on 2-Step Verification, ideally with an authenticator app, in your Roblox security settings.
- Add an Account PIN so settings cannot be changed without it.
- Keep your email and phone verified and up to date, so you can recover the account.
- Use a password you do not use anywhere else.
- Log out of all other sessions from your security settings if you ever think someone got in.
If you already fell for one
- Change your password.
- Use Log out of all other sessions in your security settings.
- Turn on 2-Step Verification if it was off.
- Check that the email and phone on the account are still yours.
- If items or Robux are missing, contact Roblox Support from the official Roblox website.
Then tell your friends what happened. Scams spread fast because the same message goes to everyone on a friends list, and a quick warning can save someone else’s account.
Questions
Are free Robux generators real?
No. Robux only come from Roblox: buying them, a Premium subscription, or earning them from your own games and items. Every site, video or game that promises free Robux is a scam or a trick to get your account.
Can someone steal my account with just my username?
No. They need your password, your login cookie, or you to approve their login for them. That is why scammers try so hard to get you to type, paste or approve something.
I clicked a bad link or pasted something. What do I do now?
Change your password right away, use Log out of all other sessions in your Roblox security settings, turn on 2-Step Verification, and check that your email and phone on the account are still yours. If you lost items or Robux, contact Roblox Support.
